001. More than a DJ set. Music, debate and electric energy at ThisChord London.

As a DJ, there will be a varitey of events and parties that will pique your interest along your musical journey. There will also be opportunities pop up that you never even considered a DJ was needed for! London’s music scene is overflowing with events, but few spaces celebrate the art of music quite like ThisChord.
ThisChord was started by a creative called DB Cxptures – a photographer, videographer, singer-songwriter, and half of the duo DVTN. I know him as my mate Daniel. His background in music, visuals and culture helped shape ThisChord. A monthly opportunity for music lovers, critics, and creators to get together and discuss a particular artists ot body of work.
The idea is similar to a book club, but instead of discussing books, we discuss albums, analyse lyrics, production, context, and what makes the music resonate. It welcomes everyone: from casual music fans to die-hard enthusiasts. In recent months. they have even expanded to having live performances, guest artists and music themed quizes. Very interactive!
There have even been an a few interesting months where artists music were pitted against each other. Music, food and drinks flow all night so as you can image, as time passes by, opinions get stronger, louder and more steadfast. That doesnt deter me though. I know what’s good, I know what music gets the people going.
I’ve had the pleasure of playing at a number of ThisChord events, such as, the gospel great Kirk Franklin edition to the Black History Month special and even battle of the bands, putting the very best boy band and girl bands head to head. Where else do you get to explore such versatility with music? Nowhere.
Playing as a DJ at ThisChord is an exciting opportunity because the event is built entirely around deep musical appreciation. The crowd isn’t just there to dance, but to listen, connect and respond thoughtfully to the music. It is space to meet like-minded people, share opinions, and vibe — not just a typical club night focused on dancing or “getting wasted.” And what more could you want from an audience as a DJ?
It is so nice to attract an audience that genuinely values craftsmanship, great blends, interesting samples, musical storytelling, and genre knowledge. It’s the perfect platform to play not just what’s popular, but what’s important and to be celebrated for it.
It’s also a powerful networking and creative opportunity. ThisChord brings together singers, musicians, producers, photographers, visual artists and passionate fans within London’s creative scene. Do you know how many doors have been opened to collaborations, bookings and long-term connections, while strengthening my reputation as a tastemaker?
Booking me as a DJ for ThisChord means choosing someone who understands the community’s ethos: music first, connection always. My approach is rooted in reading the room, respecting the album-focused format, and bringing high-energy moments without overshadowing the intimacy that makes ThisChord so special. Being a multi-genre DJ allows me to adapt to different themes while keeping the crowd engaged and inspired. For promoters and organisers seeking a reliable London DJ, a versatile open-format DJ, or someone who can curate culturally rich, crowd-pleasing sets, I bring professionalism, passion and a deep respect for the music.
A huge thank you to ThisChord for giving myself and other DJs the opportunity to be part of such a meaningful and creative process. It’s an honour to contribute to a community that celebrates music not just as entertainment, but as connection, culture, and storytelling. February 18th 2026 is their next meet-up for the lovers edition. Break up vs Make up songs. Will I see you there?
If you’re hosting an event, running a music night, or looking for a DJ who understands how to curate energy, blend genres, and bring a unique vibe to your space — I’d love to work with you.
